ABSTRACT
This research work examined the effects of management styles on work productivity in the Hotel industry with special reference to Hotel Presidential and Nike Lake Resort Hotel Enugu. In many establishments, especially the movement ones, it has been found that situations which are limical to the achievement of organizational goals do usually exist. These situation east because do usually exist being practiced by these establishments. Observations have shown that while those at the helm affair in some of these establishments adopt the kind of level of the employees, some other adopt the type of management style among workers. A close look at some organizations shows that their management style is characterized by Favoritism autocracy, inability to delegates, over centralization of authority and poor communication with subordinates and all these have negative effects on the entire organization.
To carry out the study, both primary and secondary data were used. Questionnaires were administered to elicit information on the subject matter. Data collected were analyzed with tables as simple percentage. A Z-test approach was the statically tools used for feasting the hypothesis for mulated.
Finally, several findings were in the cause of the study among which is that the management style adopted by the hotel industries under study is a mixture of autocratic and participative and management styles.
Some recommendations wee made by the researcher among which is that of concept of delegating jobs/authority should be appreciated by those at the helm of affairs in the organizations as it is only means of encouraging specialization and efficiency in a viable business organizations.
