ABSTRACT
Stress is our reaction to situation that poses demands, constraints and opportunities. The workplace has produced a lot of stressors (causes of stress) which have consequently, negatively affected the productivity of employees over the years. It was in realization of the above stated that this research-strategies for managing stress and frustration among business manager was carried out. Diamond banks in Enugu metropolis were used as a case study. Survey research method was used in this study, where four research questions and four paired hypotheses were used to direct the focus of the study. From a population of 500 staff members of diamond banks, Taro Yamane’s statistical formula was used to arrive at a sample size of 222. Questionnaire constructed in closed ended format was used in collecting primary data from the banks’ personnel. Chi-square was used in testing the formulated hypotheses. Based on analysis, result showed that Diamond bank managers have not paid good attention to stressors in their various branches. Based on the above findings, it was concluded that there exist a symbiotic relationship between stress management and productivity in the workplace. As a result, it was recommended that business managers should involve employees in decision making. This will consequently reduce role of stress in the long run. Other key areas were recommended for further research.
