INTRODUCTION
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Cooperative is a religious, economic political, cultural, ethical and educational process by which man working in consonance with another to attain a positive result and also advice a deliberate and purposeful harmony of togetherness, common objectives and voluntary manner.
This voluntary democratic association of person with valuable membership and variable capital whose members pooled themselves and their resources together on mutual and self help basis to form business enterprises which solve the socio-economic problems, this is due by providing employment through providing goods and services to their capacity.
Cooperative societies has also evolved as a strategy to generate economic activities in area of high unemployment and also where local economy is weak or virtually not existing.
The community cooperative that is community business are established mostly in the area of high unemployment. But the researcher of self help community group and unemployment themselves have gained considerable momentum in the last decade. As practical experience has been gained more group has been inspired by trying to do something in their own area. Some unemployment people has been trying to raise small scale business on their own, so as to help them tackle their minor problems and also public and private industries will be quick to provide jobs that are needed by the unemployment people so as to help the situation of unemployment especially in Nigeria.
