ABSTRACT
This study was designed to investigate the attitudes of pregnant women towards antenatal talk, in Abeokuta metropolis, Ogun State. A total of One hundred pregnant women were purposively selected from three hospitals in the state capital. Data on personal characteristics and attitudes towards antenatal talk were elicited using likert type questions in a structured questionnaire that was designed by the researcher. The data were then analysed using descriptive statistics. The result revealed that the mean age of the pregnant women interviewed was found to be 29 years, indicating that most of the pregnant women in the location are within the economic/active age range. The mean household income was found to be N30000 per month and majority (66%) of the women are employed. Majority of the pregnant women are within the gestational age of 6-9 months. Also, majority of the pregnant women had positive attitude to the antenatal talk,
however, the women reported they would prefer a more practical session combined with demonstrations. The overall rating ranges from good to very good. The study recommends that pregnant women should be encouraged to attend antenatal talk and that the talk sessions should be made more practical to facilitate learning.
