ABSTRACT
This study carried out an assessment of Parental attitudes toward behavioural changes in adolescences among secondary school students and residents in Odeda Local Government Area, Ogun State. The study utilized a social survey design with a sample population of two hundred and five respondents who were conveniently selected from two private and two public secondary schools. A well structured questionnaire with the use of dichotomous questions and Liker scale was used to elicit responses from respondents. The alpha level coefficient of the instrument was 0.5. The use of descriptive statistics of frequency count and percentages were employed in the analysis of data. The findings of the study showed that 77% of the respondents have an excellent relationship with their parents, 95% of the respondents agree that spending time with their adolescents is an important part of the relationship this study also shows that 81.8% of the respondents (adolescents) enjoy being with their parents at leisure time. The findings conclusively reverted that a healthy relationship exist between parents and their adolescents’ in spite their behavioural changes and parental attitudes towards adolescent is favorable. On the bases of the findings it over recommended that parents should play an essential role in the growth of their adolescents.
