The Problem Of Group Farmers Co-operatives In The Rural Areas Of Enugu State (a Case Study Of Oji-river Local Government Area Of Enugu State)

This research work was carried out mainly to investigate the problems of group farming co-operative societies in rural areas (A case study of Oji River local government area of Enugu State), the research was conducted among the Chairman, secretaries, working committers and members of the farmers co-operative in Oji River in the course of the study, questionnaire were used to elicit information for the study and review of related problems of group farmers co-operatives in the rural areas and was carryout and the respondents were randomly selected from the various co-operative organization in the local government, the result of the investigation should that despite the struggle of group farmers co-operatives in Oji-River local government area, they are faced with bottlenecks which hinder their success, these bottlenecks of problems include land tenure system, inadequate finance lack of storage facilities and marketing outlets, inadequate extension services, inadequate transportation facilities and poor input supplies and supporting services. Therefore the researcher suggested services of the government should adjust its policy on land tenure system so as to have enough provision of land for group farmers in the local government area, also both government and co-operation should put hand on deck to see to the provision of storage facilities, make provision for adequate funds trough mobilization of ideal resources adequate marketing outlet and provision of transportation network and communication should be put in place by the government and if all these are provided the problems of groups farmers would be solved in Oji L.G.A.
