ABSTRACT
This work provides a basic introduction on the use of computer in medical practice is aimed at designing an automated diagnosis system for patient care in clinics and hospitals.
Diagnostic systems in the establishments, organisations and environments operating a full manual system and the impact of such shift. The problem of efficiency, effectiveness and scientific methods of processing data in any organization is very important and the application of computer in the search for solution is very essential. A computerized medical diagnosis system which this project work addresses is made up of the software (intelligence) and hardware (computer) capable of carrying out diagnostic and prescription undertaking by the doctor for patient care. This is made possible by artificially impacting the knowledge of human expert (medical Doctor) to the system using specific logically related coding formats. This system just like the doctor takes a patient through series of questions and answer sessions during which it record the symptoms of a particular ailment. It can diagnose the disease and present prescriptions all with a view of presenting the patient with swith medical attention for quickest recovery possible.
