{"id":399,"date":"2014-08-23T23:18:48","date_gmt":"2014-08-23T23:18:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/projectstoc.com\/blog\/?p=399"},"modified":"2014-08-23T23:18:48","modified_gmt":"2014-08-23T23:18:48","slug":"abia-polytechnic-asup-suspends-strike-to-resume-monday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/projectstoc.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/abia-polytechnic-asup-suspends-strike-to-resume-monday\/","title":{"rendered":"Abia Polytechnic ASUP Suspends Strike; to Resume Monday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Abia State Polytechnic chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics today announced the suspension of its 12 day old strike.<\/p>\n<p>The union had on August 12 embarked on a strike following the failure of the governing council and management to pay lecturers\u2019 salary arrears.<\/p>\n<p>The ASUP Chairman, Precious Nwakodo, said in Aba that the strike was suspended because the authorities of the polytechnic paid two month arrears.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Nwakodo said that work would resume on Monday, August 25.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the governing council had, in a letter dated July 10, 2014 and signed by its Chairman, Christopher Enweremadu, promised to pay two out of five months\u2019 arrears.<\/p>\n<p>The chairman expressed gratitude to the state government for the payment, adding that the remaining three months arrears would be paid when its subvention was released.<\/p>\n<p><em>Are you looking for materials for your projects, seminar or essay?
